Indices of Multiple Deprivation 2007
Reports
About
This dataset contains SOA level results from the Indices of Deprivation 2007, published by DCLG (Department of Communities and Local Government). The Indices have been produced to enable various types of deprivation to be compared consistently across England. The Indices are intended to aid local policy development and area working.
The Indices were compiled using a range of statistical indicators. The overall Index of Multiple Deprivation was constructed by combining seven transformed 'Domain' scores, using different weights. Each of the 32,482 SOAs in England has been assigned a score and rank for the Index of Multiple Deprivation, and for each of the seven Domains. The SOA with a rank of 1 is the most deprived, and 32,482 the least deprived in the IMD and each of the Domain Indices. For further details on the methodology, please see the Compendium of results for Nottingham City Council report.
The 2007 Indices of Deprivation update the Indices produced by ODPM (Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) in 2004. The Index has been constructed by the Social Disadvantage Research Centre at the University of Oxford.
