Sustainable Community Strategy

What is a Sustainable Community Strategy?
The purpose of a Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) is to set the overall strategic direction and long-term vision for the economic, social and environmental well-being of a place, in a way that contributes to the sustainable development of the UK. The SCS will therefore be a strategy for Nottingham, not just Nottingham City Council, so it is being developed with One Nottingham and local public, private and voluntary sector organisations. It is proposed that the SCS will include a 2030 Vision, and the key challenges which need to be addressed over the next 10 years to achieve these ambitions.

Why produce an Sustainable Community Strategy?
The SCS is a long term strategy, so it provides an opportunity to step back from the ‘day job’ of delivering excellent services, and focus on transformational change. All Local Authorities have a duty to produce an SCS for their area; in consultation with, and participation of, local partners.

Please note that the State of Nottingham report and Evidence Review papers were completed specifically as part of the work to gather an evidence base for the Sustainable Commuinity Strategy, and there are no plans to update the documents. Therefore to ensure you have the most up-to-date information please contact the 'PRG Lead' named at the top of the Evidence Review paper, or contact Claire Richmond or Alice Coleman (see 'Contact Us') for enquiries about information in the State of Nottingham report.
