More about the Sustainable Community Strategy
Progress to date
The Sustainable Community Strategy is currently being developed. To date, two work streams have been completed.
The evidence base. During late 2007 a multi-agency Steering Group, supported by a Policy and Research Group, produced a review of existing evidence on a wide range of issues. The membership of these two groups is given below . Contributions were not confined to these groups alone though, and in total in excess of 50 policy officers, researchers and analysts from more than 15 organisations gave their time. This work resulted in 12 papers outlining current evidence, analysis and future challenges on discrete themes, and from these, a report called the State of Nottingham.
Engagement work. At the same time an ‘ImaginiNG’ work stream took place to inform the development of a 2030 Vision for Nottingham . More than 1200 people took part in events and a further 700 responded to a questionnaire. The purpose of the Imagining engagement programme was to ensure that a wide range of partners and communities were involved in developing a vision including:
- Residents at neighbourhood level
- Children and Young People
- Businesses
- Public Sector Agencies
- Communities of Interest
The results of both work streams are now being used to inform a 2030 Vision and goals for the Sustainable Community Strategy, which will be developed throughout 2008.
How will the Sustainable Community Strategy be delivered?
Once the SCS is in place, the Local Area Agreement is expected to be the three-year delivery plan for the Sustainable Community Strategy.
