Lead partners
- Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils are working in partnership to lead the development and application of accessibility analysis, planning and strategies throughout their administrative areas and across all relevant partner organisations.
- Key strategic partners and interested organisations representing each of the accessibility planning themes have been involved through a Core Steering Group and a Wider Reference Group. These partners have contributed to the development of the Greater Nottingham Accessibility Strategy and in monitoring progress of the individual Local Accessibility Action Plans.
- More information about the Core Steering Group and the Wider Reference Group including membership, Terms of Reference and partnership events can be found in the Accessibility Strategy for Greater Nottingham in Chapter 6: Partnerships and Consultation. This information including useful contacts and information about forthcoming partnership events will be made available through this Partnership Zone shortly.
- Current Government guidance makes it implicit that accessibility planning and analysis should be central to service delivery decisions by both local authority departments and partner organisations.
- Accessibility is not just about transport provision - other organisations, particularly those with responsibilities for planning, siting, delivering and managing key public services have an equally important role to play.
- To help to make these benefits clearer the Department for Transport (DfT) has worked with other government departments - including the Department of Health; Department for Education and Skills; Department for Communities and Local Government (formerly the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister); and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport - to produce guidance for other sectors. These guidance notes can be downloaded from the DfT website
