Back to top ^Find a Document
You can find a report in two ways. You can either navigate the subject folders or perform a search (top right).
Navigate the folders by clicking on the folder name to reveal the reports that are held within it. The list of reports allows you to see some metadata about each of the reports, which includes the title, a description, the organisation responsible for the resource and the type of document.
| TIP: Make sure you look at the size of the document before deciding to download it. Some documents are very big and will take a long time to download. |
Perform a Search if you do not know where to find a report, but you know the topic you are interested in. You can search all of the reports based on the keywords relating to the document.
Enter a keyword in the Search box and click Go.
Or you can perform an Advanced Search.

Finding Stats And Data
This part of NOMAD+ allows you to get information in the form of tables and charts. You can get information on facilities and also query information such as deprivation or the crime rates of an area.
It is split into three sections:
-
Querying data
-
Maps of data
-
Finding information on facilities
The ‘Info’ tab describes the data (metadata) whilst the ‘Data’ tab contains the information requested and the ‘Download’ tab enables various downloading functions. For facilities information the downloading option is located at the bottom of the ‘Info’ tab.
Find Information on FacilitiesYou may want to find information on a particular facility, or numerous facilities. This tool enables you to get information on what facilities there are in Nottingham, where they are located and contact information for each service.
You find information on facilities in the same way as finding a report. You can either look in the folder list by clicking on the folder title or you can use the search box. From the search results that are returned the building symbol identifies them as being facility datasets.
Click on a facility type in the list, as denoted by a building symbol, such as libraries. This will then return a list of all the facilities of this type, with other information relating to each individual facility. Click on the website in the table to find further information on each facility.
Maps of DataFor some datasets this facility directly maps the information. By selecting this option the Nomad online mapping site is launched displaying the information that you have requested.

Query Data
This allows you to query datasets by geographic area and, where applicable, for different time periods.
Select the dataset you want to query. The magnifying glass symbol denotes if the dataset can be interrogated in this way. Click on the name of the dataset to open up the query window.
Selecting BoundariesThis window allows you to select various boundaries to query the data on. For single boundaries such as Neighbourhood Renewal Area or the Greater Nottingham Partnership Area select these from the ‘Select a Boundary’ drop down list. However you may want more detailed information or numerous boundaries. Data can be queried on specific PCTs, Police Divisions, Districts, Wards, Super Output Areas and Output Areas. Choose the upper level geographic area as the initial boundary choice and a new drop down box will appear to allow you to choose further divisions of that boundary.
If you want information at the micro level you will have to interrogate by Super Output Area or Output Area. To do this you will need to select a ‘District’ and ‘Ward’. The geographic level you can interrogate is dependant on your logon access rights. This is why it is important to register as user to the site. If you are interested in all the SOAs or OAs in a ward there is always an option to choose ‘All’.
Selecting a Time PeriodFor some datasets it is also possible to choose a time period which you are interested in. Tick the ‘Select time period’ option and then choose the start and end date you want data for.
Getting Results
Click on the ‘Run Query’ button to return your results. The results will be displayed in a table. The ‘Info’ tab contains some quick information about the data, such as the title of the dataset, the source of the information and a description of the data.
| TIP: It is important to read the metadata information as it tells you about any issues with the data and copyright obligations you will need to be aware of. |
This table can be ordered to help you interpret the data. By clicking on the title of any column it will order the data in descending/ascending order, and an arrow will appear to show you which column you have ordered it by and in what order.

Download Data
The information in the table can be easily downloaded in the form of a table or a report.
To download the information as a table click on Download query results (CSV). This will open up or save a document in CSV format that can be opened in Excel. From this table you can load the information into any software package you want.
To download the information as a report, click on Download results with metadata. This will open or save a document in Microsoft Word to include the metadata and the table. This can be printed off easily.
Create Charts on your DataYou are able to chart the information that you can see in the query table. To create a chart click on the ‘Graph it!’ data output options. This will create a graph, on-the-fly, which can be printed out. This will give you a good idea of the trends over time or variations between different geographical areas.
